soo... i am blogslacker. i really forget that i have this thing... but i shall do my best to update you on whats going on with me! I recently had a show in minneapolis for paper darts magazine (amazingly beautiful twin cities arts and lit zine) and that went superwell! I also have my website up after months of onlineslackerage! yoot! so follow the link to carleyrae.com, and it will show you some arts, CV, contact info, videos and other fun stuff! I will be going back to Italy in about two weeks, so i am super super busy, so i will try to update on future shows etc as sort through my stress pile! also...the image below is being used as a book cover! that makes me happy.

I am getting my new tattoo this week! I found an old flower printed napkin in a box of stuff a few months ago, and decided i needed to put that napkin on my body. so, i will be decorating myself with 3 blue flowers very soon. I will put photos on when I have them. The tattoo artist is a really cool guy named Fabrizio Cotognini... he is also a pretty amazing fine artist who has been helping me to find the art scene in this wierdo foreign country. horray for nice people who speak slowly to foreigners like me!

Marte Live Contest

I was involved a couple of months ago in a live painting contest called "Marte Live" here in Italy. The first part of the contest took place at my favorite bar "Terminal", where they had 3 nights of music and painting. I was one of the two painters that were selected to go to the finals in Rome, along with painter, Luca Morici. We then competed in this huge confusing super hot place in Rome along with a zillion other painters, photographers, sculptors, musicians, street performers, etc etc etc... I took 12th in the painting section, which i was pretty proud of. I cant believe how fun live painting is! i want to find more and more and more things like this! I was thinking for Next year's Steel Bridge Songfest , we should organize some sort of live art thing. why would we let the musicians get all the spotlight?? who's in?

I met him a few years back at a show in Milwaukee, and couldn't believe how down to earth his is. I will never forget when he told me that art school is useless and i should just get out! :)

this is where the horse heads come in. I wanted to start adding more realism into my artses, but the only reference i have at home (being that i have no internet) is my farmer husband's book of animal heads and genitals. i prefer the heads. genitals are alittle banal eh?
